How to use MyRecipes

A full walkthrough of every feature · MyMacros guide · Support

Getting started

Sign in with Apple or Google — your account is shared with MyMacros, so one login works in both apps. New accounts get a free 14-day Pro trial with everything unlocked. Your recipes sync to your account, so they're on every device you sign in to.

Adding recipes

Paste a link

Tap +, paste a link — a recipe website, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or X — and hit Import recipe. The recipe is read, tidied up (no more "82.50 ml plain flour") and saved automatically, photo included.

Share straight from other apps

Even easier: in Safari, TikTok or Instagram, tap Share on a recipe and choose MyRecipes. The app opens and imports it for you.

From screenshots

For recipes that live in pictures — a Facebook post, an Instagram story, a photo of a magazine page — screenshot it (up to 3 images) and use From screenshots. The AI reads the images and builds the recipe for you to review before saving.

Facebook links can't be opened directly yet (Facebook keeps posts behind a login). Screenshot the recipe and use From screenshots — it works every time.

Scan a cookbook

Scan a photo points the camera at a cookbook page or recipe card and turns it into a saved recipe the same way.

Create from scratch

Or type your own: title, ingredients, steps, times and nutrition, with a colour card to make it yours. You can edit any recipe later — imported or not.

Free accounts keep up to 10 recipes and get 5 imports/scans a month; Plus and Pro are unlimited.

Reading a recipe

Open a recipe for its ingredients, steps, times and per-serving nutrition. Change the serving count and the ingredient amounts scale with it. If the source didn't state nutrition, Plus/Pro can tap Estimate nutrition and the AI fills it in from the ingredients (marked as estimated). Open original takes you back to the source page, and you can add your own photo.

Cooking mode

Tap Cook and the recipe becomes full-screen steps with the screen kept awake. Timers are picked up from the steps automatically — "simmer for 20 minutes" becomes a one-tap timer.

Voice cook-along

Turn on the mic and cook hands-free: each step is read aloud, and you just say "next", "back", "repeat" or "start timer". When a timer goes off, say "stop" to carry on. No more floury fingerprints on the screen.

Planning & groceries

Meal planner (Plus/Pro)

Add recipes to your plan from the recipe page (or long-press cards to multi-select). The planner lays your week out; it's the easiest way to answer "what's for dinner".

Grocery list

Send a recipe's ingredients to the grocery list, tick things off as you shop, and add your own extras. The list is free and unlimited.

Favourites & Popular

Heart the recipes you love and they collect under Favourites. The Popular shelf on Home shows what other users with your dietary preference are importing and hearting — tap one to save your own copy.

Sharing recipes

Share any recipe from its page — your friend gets a link, and opening it imports the recipe into their MyRecipes (or shows it on the web if they don't have the app yet). You can also export a recipe as a PDF.

MyMacros integration (Pro)

With Pro, your recipes appear automatically in MyMacros — on its Meals tab, and under the MyRecipes button when logging food. Cook from one app, log in the other, one subscription for both.

Appearance

MyRecipes follows your phone's light/dark setting, or pick a fixed theme on the Profile page.

Your account & subscription

Free: 10 recipes, 5 imports/scans a month, full grocery list. Plus: unlimited recipes and imports, the meal planner and AI nutrition. Pro: everything in MyMacros as well — one subscription, both apps.

Manage or cancel any time from the plan card on your Profile (billed by the App Store; cancelling keeps access until the period ends). You can delete your account and all its data from the Profile page.
